What Is Next for Void Survivors
VOID SURVIVORS launched as a focused, minimal game — and that focus was intentional. But we have big plans for the future. Here is a look at what we are working on and what you can expect in the coming months.
New Upgrades
The current pool of 7 upgrades offers a solid foundation, but we believe there is room for more strategic depth. Upgrades we are exploring:
- Phase Shielding: A temporary invulnerability mechanic that triggers on a cooldown when HP drops below a threshold.
- Explosive Payload: Projectiles that deal area damage on impact, giving the player crowd control options against dense waves.
- Leech Rounds: A percentage of damage dealt is converted to HP, rewarding aggressive play.
- Chrono Field: A slow aura around the player that reduces enemy speed within range.
Each new upgrade will be designed to enable new playstyles and build archetypes.
New Enemy Types
We want to introduce more variety into wave compositions. Some enemies in early design:
- Swarmers: Very small, very fast enemies with minimal HP that appear in large groups. They die in one hit but can overwhelm through numbers.
- Teleporters: Enemies that periodically blink toward the player, bypassing distance-based safety.
- Shieldbearers: Enemies that project a damage-absorbing shield to nearby allies, creating priority target decisions.
Mobile and Touch Support
This is the most requested feature, and we hear you. We are actively working on touch controls that will make the game playable on phones and tablets. The current design uses virtual joystick input with auto-aim, preserving the core gameplay loop while adapting it for touch screens.
Community Features
VOID SURVIVORS is currently a single-player experience, but we are considering:
- Leaderboards: Global high scores so players can compete beyond their personal best.
- Daily Challenges: Fixed-seed runs where all players get the same upgrade RNG, creating a fair competition field.
- Replay System: The ability to record and share runs.
Balance and Polish
Beyond new features, we are committed to ongoing balance tuning. We monitor play data and community feedback to identify upgrades that underperform or overperform. Our goal is a game where every upgrade is a viable choice in the right context.
Timeline
Development is ongoing. Here is our rough roadmap:
- Q3 2026: Mobile touch controls, 2 new upgrades, balance pass
- Q4 2026: 2 new enemy types, daily challenges, Phase Shielding upgrade
- Q1 2027: Leaderboards, replay system, additional content updates
This is an ambitious roadmap for an independent project, and timelines may shift. But we are committed to improving VOID SURVIVORS and building the game our community wants to play.
